Create a table
There are three ways to create a new table in an existing data source:
- SQL Terminal – run
CREATE TABLE ...directly (see SQL Terminal). The most flexible way, since you can use the full SQL of your database dialect (e.g. real foreign key constraints, the way this very handbook does for its page-tree field). - CSV import (new table) – upload a CSV file, adjust column names and types in the preview dialog, then create it (see CSV import).
- SQL import – upload a
.sqlfile withCREATE TABLE/INSERTstatements (see SQL import).
Once created, the table is immediately available – a manual sync isn’t needed for IllusionDB’s own “new table” paths, but it is if you created the table outside of IllusionDB (e.g. via a migration) (see Synchronizing).
Important for the form editor and many views: a table with exactly one primary key supports full editing (add/edit/delete a row). A table with no primary key or a composite primary key stays read-only.
