Changelog
1.2.1 (2026-10-15)
- German interface says “Datenquelle”: The sidebar, settings, file management, schema log and API documentation now consistently use the German term “Datenquelle” instead of “Data Source”—matching the handbook.
- API documentation: The sign-in and account examples use the neutral address
user@example.cominstead of a German placeholder.
1.2.0 (2026-10-13)
- First stable version: The beta phase is over – from this version on IllusionDB no longer carries the “-beta” suffix. Functionally 1.2.0 equals 1.1.9-beta plus the fix below.
- Fixed: text field in a new, not yet saved row: In the row under “+ New row”, text columns did not accept any input – everything typed was erased immediately (date and number worked). Cause: the text field’s native input event reached the row in addition to the field type’s own event and cleared the draft value. Only the field type’s own event counts now.
1.1.9-beta (2026-10-10)
- Setup with two options: The setup dialog now asks whether to install the handbook (default: on) and demo data (default: off). The demo is a sample agency “Brightline Studio” as its own SQLite data source “Demo” with every field type, every view, media library, document template, scripts and groups – easy to delete later. If an option fails, the account stays (“Continue without”). For the first setup via
ADMIN_EMAIL/ADMIN_PASSWORDthere areINSTALL_MANUAL(defaulttrue) andINSTALL_DEMO(defaultfalse); new instances no longer create the handbook on startup unasked, existing ones stay as they are. See Setup. - Test seed
idbseed: New command line tool (backend/cmd/idbseed) that fills a running instance through the REST API only with the demo data plus test accounts, API token, webhook and a public table – idempotent, with spot checks at the end. - New look: IllusionDB now uses the shared design system of the IllusionForge apps (IllusionUI) and looks like IllusionCMS – the same colors in light and dark (contrast checked against WCAG AA), the sidebar follows the chosen appearance, code fields always stay dark. A saved light/dark choice is kept.
- Dialogs and controls as in IllusionCMS: windows, buttons, input fields, menus and tables have the same shape as in the CMS. Confirmations (e.g. before deleting) and name prompts appear as a proper dialog instead of a browser popup, notices at the bottom right; in an open dialog the Tab key stays inside the dialog, Esc closes it. The appearance switch sits in one row with the language at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Interface languages via IllusionUI: translations, server error messages and date and number formats go through the shared language system of the IllusionForge apps; shared terms (Save, Cancel …) come from there. The language menu with flags has a Project default entry that removes the personal choice again. View modules switch language immediately. Saved language choices are kept.
- Fixed: An auto number column showed up a second time as a plain number column after every further schema change in the same data source.
- Fixed: Builds made on Windows blocked their own start-up script (Content Security Policy) because of the line endings, leaving the interface blank.
- Fixed: Attachment cells briefly requested thumbnails under an incomplete address while being built (errors 400/404 in the browser console).
1.1.8-beta (2026-10-09)
- Remote instances: A local IllusionDB can connect to another instance (e.g. your online server) and work on it directly – switch at the top of the sidebar; a yellow LIVE banner shows that every change lands on the server immediately. The connection’s API token is stored encrypted.
- Headless mode: An instance’s admin UI can be switched off (also remotely through a remote connection), leaving only the REST API – no web interface, no login. Plus the
HEADLESSandMASTER_TOKENenvironment variables andillusiondb -enable-adminas the emergency route. - Gantt view: New view (as a view module) for project and milestone timelines – drag bars and milestones to move or resize them, drag across empty space to create, sub-items (parent column), dependency arrows with a warning when violated, colors from a color/label field, extra columns and duration on the left, zoom from week to year, print/PDF and PNG export, read-only switch per view.
- View settings: View modules can now also offer yes/no switches, dropdowns and multi-column selection; the settings dialog scrolls when there are many fields.
- Security: New “Security” settings tab (admins only) with safe defaults: security headers (Content Security Policy, anti-embedding/clickjacking, HSTS, referrer policy), CSRF protection, request size limit, login limit counting failed attempts only, session duration, minimum password length, API token expiry, version and internal error details no longer public, webhook and remote network rules. Non-admins no longer see connection details or webhooks; server timeouts against slow connections.
- REST API:
fieldsparameter:GET /tables/{id}/records?fields=slug,changed(and/records/{pk}) returns only the listed columns; with plain table columns only those are read and computed fields are skipped.
1.1.7-beta (2026-09-15)
- Markdown editor with live preview: A single input field replaces the old textarea with a toggleable preview – only the paragraph the cursor is currently in shows raw, editable Markdown text, every other one immediately shows the rendered result (Obsidian/Typora style). A paragraph is activated by clicking it; clicking outside deselects it again; a paragraph left empty is automatically removed when you leave it.
- Virtual folders in file management: Files can now be sorted into a folder tree via drag and drop, similar to the Wiki page tree – purely organizational, with no change to how they’re actually stored. A folder can only be deleted once it’s empty.
- Reuse attachments across tables/columns: When editing an attachment field, + opens a window with upload and a selection of already-uploaded files, filtered to the tables the given user has at least read access to – the same file no longer needs to be uploaded multiple times. File management accordingly shows a shared file only once, with an expandable list of every location, and itself has an upload function to stage a file in advance, before it’s attached anywhere.
- Attachment files no longer disappear automatically: Removing a file from a cell (or deleting a column/data source with attachments) no longer deletes the file itself – it stays in file management, unlinked, and can be attached again at any time. A file is now permanently removed only via file management itself.
- Wiki view: attachments as a footer gallery: An attachment field can optionally be shown as a sticky gallery at the bottom of a Wiki page, only when configured and the page actually has files; the lightbox now also has a download button.
- SQL Terminal with snippets: Save frequently used SQL queries as snippets, keep several open in tabs at once (like in VS Code), open, overwrite, or delete snippets via the sidebar. The snippet list is collapsible.
- Five languages: The interface is now fully available in German, English, Spanish, French, and Italian, including a project-wide default language in the project settings.
- Docker in the Linux package: The Docker Compose stack is now bundled directly into the Linux release archive – no separate download needed anymore.
- Docker stack now works with no
.envfile at all:docker compose up -d --buildalone is enough – the encryption key is generated on first start and saved directly in the persistent data volume (survives a later rebuild), and the first admin account can be created through the browser setup wizard. If you’d still rather pin the key/admin credentials yourself, you can still copy.env.exampleto.envand fill it in.
1.1.6-beta (2026-09-06)
- New field type “Child records”: Show records linked from another table directly in the parent row, including sum aggregation and CSV export.
- Edit lookup/rollup/child records connections afterward: An existing link’s target column can now be changed without recreating the column.
- Docker release package: A ready-made
Dockerfile+docker-compose.ymlas its own release artifact for self-hosting.
1.1.5-beta (2026-08-31)
- Built-in handbook: This handbook runs directly in the app, searchable, with no internet access.
- Four new views: Wiki (page tree with drag and drop), Calendar, Document view, and Kanban (with freely configurable columns and manual card order) – in addition to the classic table view.
- Document generator: Generate templates directly from the app as PDF, PNG, or JPG.
- SQL import wizard: Import existing
.sqlfiles through a guided dialog. - Publicly readable tables: Make individual tables publicly accessible via a toggle, optionally with token access via a URL parameter.
- Custom REST endpoints via script: Custom endpoints and automation hooks as self-written JavaScript, editable and testable directly in the app.
- Views are now modules: Grid, Kanban, CMS, and the other views run as swappable view modules – the foundation for all four new views above.
- Collapsible sidebar in the main navigation.
- Filters with autocomplete for foreign key and links columns.
1.0.0 (2026-08-20)
- New plugin architecture for field types: Every field type runs as a standalone WASM module – the foundation for every field type and view added since.
- Script engine: Custom JavaScript scripts for custom endpoints and record hooks (created/updated/deleted), managed directly in the app.
- 1:n links entirely without SQL via the column wizard.
- Export/import a data source’s schema as JSON.
- Download SQLite data sources directly.
- Built-in SQL schema viewer in the grid toolbox.
- Formula editor with reference: a popover with every available operator and function.
