Synchronizing
“Sync” reads the external database’s schema again and updates IllusionDB’s internal metadata accordingly – needed when you’ve created or changed tables/columns outside of IllusionDB (e.g. via a migration).
A sync is safe to repeat:
- Tables/columns that already exist keep their stable internal ID across a resync – important, because views, formulas, lookups, etc. reference internally by this ID, not by name.
- App-specific metadata (display formats, formula/lookup/rollup/links definitions, column renames) is preserved across a resync.
- Newly added tables/columns are added; removed ones are removed from the metadata.
A sync is triggered via the “Sync” button on the data source overview or detail page. A sync performs no write operations on the external database – it only reads.
