Formula

Computes a value from other columns of the same row – doesn’t exist as a real database column, but is recalculated on every query.

The formula editor offers autocomplete for column names and the built-in functions:

  • IF(condition, then, else)
  • LEN(text) – text length
  • UPPER(text) / LOWER(text) – upper/lower case

Example: IF(status == "active", "✓ active", "inactive")

A formula column is always treated internally as text (regardless of what the expression actually returns) – via Manage columns you can still manually override the field type, e.g. if the formula really produces a number or a date, so matching display formats (see Display formats at a glance) become available.

The Button display format is meant exclusively for formula columns: a fixed label text whose click target is computed by the formula.
