Connect a data source
Using “New data source” (sidebar or Settings → Data Sources) you connect IllusionDB to an existing database.
PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB
Required fields:
- Name – how the connection is displayed in IllusionDB (freely chosen, independent of the actual database name).
- Host, Port, Database, Username, Password.
- For PostgreSQL, additionally SSL mode (
disableorrequire).
The password is stored encrypted in the internal metadata database (AES-256-GCM), never in plain text.
SQLite
For SQLite, the path to the file is enough. Alternatively, you can let IllusionDB create the file itself – see Create a new SQLite database directly.
After connecting
When creating the connection, IllusionDB reads the database’s schema completely once (see Synchronizing) – afterward, every table found appears in the sidebar, with automatically detected column types.
